Getting started
Create your account, answer four set-up questions and send your first invoice.
Create your account
Sign up with your email address and a password. You start on the Free plan: 3 invoices a month, 15 clients and 25 products or services, with no card needed. If we email you a confirmation link, open it and sign in.
Answer four questions
Before you reach the app, DDM Flow asks four things, because every invoice you send depends on them. Your progress is saved after each step, so if you stop halfway, signing in again picks up where you left off.
- Your business. Name, email, phone and address. This is what your clients see on every invoice, quote and statement, and SARS needs the address on a tax invoice.
- Where you trade. Your country sets your currency, your tax form and how dates read. You can currently choose South Africa.
- Numbers and dates. How amounts and dates are written on screens, PDFs and emails. You can change it later in Settings → Regional formats.
- VAT. Whether you are registered. If you are, we add VAT to your invoices; if not, we leave it off. Setting up VAT explains the details.
Send your first invoice
- Go to Sales → Clients and press Add client. A client's details fill in on every invoice you send them.
- If you sell the same things often, add them under Sales → Items with Add item.
- Press New invoice in the top bar, choose the client and add your lines. Send invoice emails it; Save draft keeps it for later.
Two settings are worth a minute before you send: your logo under Settings → Invoice design, and your banking details under Settings → Business profile, in Payment instructions. Your banking details are what a client paying by EFT needs, and they appear on the client portal.
When you need more
Change plan under Settings → Plan & billing. Quotes, recurring invoices and credit notes are on Basic, Pro and Ultra; expenses, bills, cash flow and VAT returns on Pro and Ultra; the general ledger and journals on Ultra.
